“Come to the water all you who are thirsty.” (Isaiah 55:1)Celebration begins with water. As we approach the Chapel, we are greeted by the sound of running water. The flowing waters at the place of welcome near the Pool of Baptism are a quiet reminder of the waters of Baptism. We pass through these waters every time we go to prayer and every time we celebrate the Word and the Eucharist. It is our baptism into a community that unites us, and invites us to the presence of God. We stop at the pool to bless ourselves, to remember our sins of everyday life and the gift of the Spirit hovering over us in the form of a dove. All visitors, retreatants and meeting/workshop participants coming to Queen’s House are respectfully reminded that they are children of God. The waters invite us to growth and to life, symbolized by the pathway of living plants. We are each to bloom where we are planted.
This is the first of four major areas of the Chapel.
