“Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10)Beyond the Pool of Baptism, but still within the larger area of welcome, the pilgrim enters the Stillness Lounge, a place of quiet, comfort and stillness. The sense of the natural is above all suggested by the beauty of the panoramic view of the riverside grounds, and further enhanced by the cozy fireside atmosphere. This area is dedicated to Mary and to the family. The sculptures on the walls depict three events in the life of Jesus: his birth, the wedding at Cana when he performed his first miracle, and his death on the Cross. His mother Mary is present in these joys and sorrows, just as parents today live through their children’s birth, their leaving home, and deaths in the family. The statue of Mary, the Immaculate Conception, done in Canadian walnut was formerly in St. Thomas College Chapel in North Battleford.
This is the second of four major areas of the Chapel.
